ROMEOVILLE, Ill. — The visiting Bellarmine University men's soccer team fell 1-0 Sunday to Lewis after the Flyers scored a little over three minutes into overtime in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
Bellarmine dropped to 5-4 overall and 3-4 in the GLVC, while Lewis improved to 7-3 and 6-2.
Timm Adler scored the game-winner in the 94th minute after the teams went scoreless in regulation. Bellarmine deflected a cross inside the box, but Adler was in perfect position for the carom and sank a shot from close range inside the near post.
Bellarmine finished with a 14-11 advantage in shots, including 6-3 on goal, along with a 6-2 edge in corner kicks, but the Knights were shut out for the third time this season.
Bellarmine hosts Illinois Springfield on Friday and welcomes Quincy on Sunday.
