LEBANON, Ill.—The Bellarmine Knights volleyball team suffered just its third loss of the season, falling on the road in three sets (18-28, 26-28, 17-25) to Great Lakes Valley Conference Central Division leader McKendree University at the Harry Statham Sports Center.
The host Bearcats held advantages in virtually every phase of the game—kills (44-35), attack percentage (.194-.086), digs 68-61), and blocks (13-4).
A bright spot for the Knights was the play of freshman
Izzie Salameh, who recorded a career-high nine kills while hitting .600 to lead Bellarmine in both categories.
The Bearcats were paced by Arela Williams with 17 kills while Carissa Lorenz added a solo block and six assisted blocks.
Bellarmine slips to 12-3 on season with a 3-3 mark in in league games. McKendree improves to 11-3 and stays perfect in GLVC contests with a 6-0 record.
The Knights return to action on Tuesday with a home match against Indianapolis at 7 p.m.
