ST. LOUIS — The visiting Bellarmine University men's soccer team opened Great Lakes Valley Conference play with a 5-0 loss to Maryville on Friday.
The Knights (2-1, 0-1 GLVC) trailed the Saints (3-0, 1-0) 3-0 at halftime and surrendered two more goals in the second half. Maryville was credited with seven shots, sinking five of them.
Joergen Pettersen scored twice for the Saints, while Pontus Gitselov, Helmut Florencia and Andrade Ricardo had one apiece. Bellarmine totaled five shots, multiple of which caromed off the post.
Bellarmine hosts Missouri S&T at 2:30 p.m. (ET) Sunday at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium.
