Berry, Schwartz recognized with All-GLVC awards

INDIANAPOLIS — Bellarmine University women's basketball juniors Mikayla Berry and Mallory Schwartz both earned All-Great Lakes Valley Conference recognition, the league announced Wednesday.

Berry, a guard, garnered first-team honors while Schwartz, a forward, reaped third-team notice. It's the first All-GLVC accolade for both.

Berry leads Bellarmine in scoring (11.0) and made 3-pointers (35). The Owensboro, Kentucky, native has also tallied 33 steals and hit 77.2 percent of her free throws. Berry has led the Knights in scoring on nine different occasions and her 30 points against Glenville State on Dec. 31 are a single-game high for the team this season.

Schwartz leads Bellarmine in steals (42) and offensive rebounds (70). The native of Union, Kentucky, is second on the Knights in total rebounds (4.8) and averages 7.4 points. She grabbed 11 rebounds in the Glenville State game and scored a season-high 18 points against Rockhurst on Jan. 19.

Bellarmine freshman guard Kathleen Scott was chosen as the team's James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Individual Award nominee.

Lewis senior forward Jessica Kelliher earned her third straight GLVC Player of the Year accolade, Drury junior guard Daejah Bernard was named Defensive Player of the Year, Drury guard Paige Robinson was picked as Freshman of the Year and Drury's Molly Miller was voted Coach of the Year.
