LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine University men's tennis team swept the doubles matches, but McKendree commanded singles play in defeating the Knights 5-2 on Friday in Great Lakes Valley Conference play at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex.
Bellarmine (4-12, 0-4 GLVC) captured the doubles point against McKendree (3-11, 1-4) as sophomores
Nick Johnson and
Sam Rueff won 6-4 at No. 1 doubles, freshmen
Caleb Buckman and
Michael Staff delivered the same score at No. 2 and sophomore
Evan Bottorff and freshman
Noah Neuhauser edged their opponents 7-6 at No. 3.
All of the singles matches were decided in straight sets but, unfortunately, the Knights secured only one of them. Buckman was victorious 6-4, 6-1 over Johnny Hu at No. 2.
Bellarmine will host Illinois Springfield in its regular-season finale starting at 11 a.m. Saturday.
