QUINCY, Ill. — The Bellarmine University and Quincy men's soccer teams were unable to complete a countable match Friday night at Legends Stadium due to inclement weather.
The Knights and Hawks were tied at 2-2 in the second half when play was halted for the second time due to storms. Bellarmine Coach
Tim Chastonay reported that the match is considered a no contest since it did not reach the required 70 minutes of play. The live stats for the match showed it was 67:53 into the game.
None of the statistics from the match will count except for yellow cards.
After trailing 2-0 at halftime, Bellarmine knotted it up at 2-all after scoring twice in less than four minutes in the second half. The Knights cut their deficit in half with an own goal in the 61st minute as a Quincy defender played the ball back into the net.
Senior forward
Tomas Bernedo scored the tying goal in the 64th minute as he drove in a rebound off a save of a header by junior midfielder
Micah Linscott. It would have been Bernedo's fifth goal and Linscott's fourth assist of the season.
Bellarmine had a 15-8 advantage in shots when the match ended, including 7-4 on goal.
Bellarmine plays at 1 p.m. (ET) Sunday at Truman State.
