LOUISVILLE, Ky.--The Bellarmine volleyball hit a sizzling .386 for the match and cruised past the visiting Maryville Saints in straights on Saturday afternoon in a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest at Knights Hall.
Junior
Izzie Salameh paced the Knights with 11 kills on just 18 swings as Bellarmine held a 40-25 advantage in kills today.
The Knights broke out of the gates with a .438 hitting game to easily outdistance the Saints 25-12. Salameh recorded seven of her 11 kills in the opening frame.
Although Bellarmine cooled just a bit in the second set, the Knights still managed an attack percentage of .391 while holding Maryville to just .033.Â
Abbie Stefanon came on to notch three of her seven kills on the day and lead BU to a 25-16 set two victory.
After the five-minute intermission, the Knights continued their dominance, outhitting Maryville .321 to .086 to complete the sweep with a 25-17 set three victory. This time, it was
Hannah Brown leading the Bellarmine attack, ringing up five of her nine kills on the day. The freshman finished with a .533 attack percentage.
As the score would indicate, the Knights held distinct advantages in nearly every area, including on defense where they outdug Maryville 41-32 and outblocked the Saints 6-1. Bellarmine libero was the only player in the match to record more than 10 digs, finishing with a game-high 16. On offense, a compelling statistic is that Bellarmine setter
Kristen O'Toole had more assists (27) than the Saints had kills (25).Â
The victory moves Bellarmine to 10-4 on the season and 1-1 in the league. Maryville drops to 4-10, 0-2 in the GLVC.
The Knights return to action on Friday, when they're on the road against Quincy.Â
