LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine University baseball team's 2019 campaign has been celebrated by the ASUN Conference as the best season in program history.
Bellarmine is the newest member of the ASUN.
In 2019, Bellarmine made a dominant run to a Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament championship. The Knights went 4-0 in the tournament and outscored their opponents 38-18. Bellarmine walloped Maryville 12-4 and Southern Indiana 14-7 before handling Quincy 8-4. The Knights captured the title by pulling out a 4-3 win over Illinois Springfield.
Bellarmine earned its third straight NCAA II Tournament berth and, once there, notched a 7-6 win over Northwood. The Knights amassed 34 wins overall, including 20 in the GLVC. They bridged the last four games of the regular season, the GLVC Tournament and the opening round of the NCAA Tournament with nine consecutive wins.
A program-record four Knights earned All-America honors after Bellarmine had never had more than one All-American in any season. Garnering the awards were catcher

Matt Higgins, outfielder/pitcher
Alex Phillips and right fielder
Zac Wiley.

Eddie Mathis received All-Midwest Region recognition. Designated hitter
Deylen Miley joined that collection of players in reaping All-GLVC accolades. In addition, Wiley was named GLVC Player of the Year and Midwest Region Player of the Year.
Bellarmine's offense may have been the most prolific in program history. The Knights amassed a program-record 444 runs. As a team, Bellarmine hit .322, launched 77 homers and piled up 120 doubles while slugging .516 as a group.
