LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine University men's tennis team kept its undefeated record intact after edging Campbellsville 4-3 on Saturday at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex.
In doing so, Bellarmine improved to 4-0 under new Coach
Will Davis and tied its win total from last season — as early as it possibly could, no less.
Winning the doubles point was crucial for Bellarmine. The Knights secured it against the Tigers (0-1) after junior
Evan Bottorff and freshman
Paul Reynolds won 6-0 at No. 1, and junior
Sam Rueff and freshman
Eli Franks triumphed 6-3 at No. 3.
While the final score was tight, there was actually very little suspense involved in the contest. Bottorff, Reynolds and freshman
Emil Bjoerlykke Berglund all won in straight sets at Nos. 1-3 singles; those three matches finished first, so Bellarmine clinched with a 4-0 lead.
Bellarmine will play next Saturday at Alabama-Huntsville.
