LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine University men's tennis team collected a 4-2 win over Georgetown (Ky.) College on Saturday at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex.
Freshman
Emil Bjoerlykke Berglund and sophomore
Michael Staff rolled 6-1 at No. 2 doubles and freshman
Eli Franks and sophomore
Noah Neuhauser did as well with a 6-2 victory at No. 3 doubles to secure the point for Bellarmine (2-0).
Georgetown (1-1) took a 2-1 lead after winning at Nos. 1 and 5 singles, but Bellarmine answered with three straight victories to take the match. Staff rallied to knock off Parker Clarke at No. 3 after dropping the first set, Franks put the Knights in front with a straight-sets win over Hunter Nosek at No. 4 and Bjoerlykke Berglund clinched the team triumph with a three-set victory over Josh Piunti at No. 2.
"I am really proud of the team. It was a team effort," Knights Coach
Will Davis said. "The guys really stepped up and played well against a tough Georgetown team. We are looking forward to our match against Lincoln Memorial and another opportunity to get better."
Bellarmine will play at Lincoln Memorial at 11 a.m. Sunday.
