LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Senior Jeffrey Owen and junior Daniel Sims have been chosen as team captains of the Bellarmine University men's swimming team, Head Coach John Brucato announced Wednesday.

"When you have someone behind the scenes (like Jeffrey) who is always willing to step up and assist his teammates in and out of the pool, you know you have a leader," Brucato said. "Daniel leads by example in the pool with his work ethic and undeniable competitive drive and spirit."

Sims is the program record holder in the 200 breaststroke and 200 individual medley along with being a member of the record-holding 800 freestyle relay team. He scored in the 200 breaststroke, 200 individual medley and 400 individual medley in last season's GLVC Championships.

Owen swims the individual medley and backstroke for the Knights. He's a three-time Academic All-GLVC honoree and in 2018-19 earned the GLVC Brother James Gaffney Distinguished Scholar Award for posting a 4.0 GPA for the academic year.

Bellarmine is entering its first season in Division I and is a member of the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association.
