LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine University men's swimming team is set to make its Division I debut when the Knights hit the pool Saturday at Ball State.

Due to the pandemic, the season has been drastically reduced. The Knights will compete in three regular-season meets before the CCSA Swimming & Diving Championships.

Junior Matthew Sims is coming off another history-making campaign. Not only did he earn his second straight All-America accolade in the 200 butterfly, Sims shattered the Great Lakes Valley Conference record in the event at the GLVC Championships, winning gold for the second season in a row.

Sims was recently named to the Bellarmine All-Decade Team and was voted Swimmer of the Decade in an online poll. He is the program record holder in the 200 butterfly and the 400 individual medley.

Senior Ty Grubb was acknowledged on the Bellarmine All-Decade Team as well. He is the program record holder in the 50 and 100 breaststroke. Grubb scored in the 100 breaststroke at last season's GLVC Championships.

Junior Daniel Sims, twin brother of Matthew Sims, is the program standard-bearer in the 200 breaststroke and 200 individual medley. Daniel Sims secured an NCAA B-cut in the 200 and 400 individual medleys at the GLVC Championships, placing top 8 in those two events as well as the 200 breaststroke.

Junior Aubrey Archer Adams (200 freestyle relay) and sophomores Patrick Jackson (400 freestyle relay, 200 medley relay), Will O'Connor (200 freestyle relay) and Michael Jones (800 freestyle relay) are all members of record-holding relay teams.

Also set for action for Bellarmine are seniors Jeffrey Owen (IM/backstroke) and Wilkin Savery (breaststroke/butterfly/IM), juniors Chance Fiallo (freestyle/IM) and Conner Lynn (freestyle) and sophomores Jacob Dray (butterfly/freestyle), Adham Howaidy, Sam Russell (freestyle) and Brendan Verna (butterfly/freestyle).

Bellarmine's freshmen are Tyler Diercks, Carter Dilger, Nicholas Green, Keegan Henderson, Andrew Nguyen, Carter Reynolds, Kenton Whiteley and Greyson Williams.
