LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine swim teams picked up their first wins in the Division I era by sweeping their first home meets of the season on Saturday.
The women's team competed against Centre College and Butler University in a double dual. The Knights topped Centre 191-71 and beat Butler 143-119.
On the men's side, Bellarmine dominated Centre with a final score of 196-64.
The women's team collected six first place finishes, starting with the 400 medley relay (4:01.04).
Maya Sorensen, Lexi Pierce,
Rachel Walker, and Liz Stevenson earned the win.
Walker was fantastic for the women, winning three events. She was victorious in the 200 freestyle (1:56.93), 100 freestyle (52.55), and 100 butterfly (56.77).
Morgan Bender topped the finishers in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.39), and Lexi Pierce raced to first in the 200 breaststroke (2:26.04).
For the men, Bellarmine racked up 12 first place finishes out of the 14 events. The Knights started with a victory in the 400 medley relay (3:30.49).

Daniel Sims,
Jacob Dray, and JP Metzner combined for the win.
Individually,
Matthew Sims was sensational again, taking first place in the 200 butterfly (1:50.46), 500 freestyle (4:51.86), and 200 IM (1:57.88). Howaidy won twice, finishing first in the 100 (54.08) and 200 backstroke (1:57.68). The other multi-event winner was D. Sims, racing to first in the 100 (59.66) and 200 breaststroke (2:10.61).
Brandon Thomas won the 1000 freestyle (9:59.91) while
Greyson Williams took first in the 200 freestyle (1:46.34). William O'Connor led the pack in the 50 freestyle (21.97), and Metzner was first to the wall in the 100 freestyle (47.68). Dray also tallied one first-place finish in the 100 butterfly (50.66).
Next up, the men's and women's teams will compete in the Southern Illinois Invite Nov. 11 – 13 in Carbondale, Ill.
