2021 Swimming Signings

Bellarmine swimming signs seven for 2022-23 season

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Bellarmine Swimming Head Coach John Brucato has announced seven signees for the 2022-23 season, featuring five men's swimmers and two women's swimmers.
 
The signees include:  Lauren Diercks from Indianapolis, Ind.; Cassie Lowe from Jonesborough, Tenn.; Liam Connelly from Park Hills, Ky.; Cason Henderson from Louisville, Ky.; Brady Koval from Elizabethtown, Ky.; Jack Proctor from Liberty Township, Ohio; and Blake Whiteley from Louisville, Ky.
 
Here is a closer look at the seven signees:
 
Lauren Diercks
Indianapolis, Ind.
North Central High School
Washington Township Swim Club
  • Diercks is a top recruit out of Indiana and will compete in the 100 & 200 backstroke as well as the 200 IM.
  • Diercks will be joining her older brother Tyler who is a second year member of the men's swim team.
 
Cassie Lowe
Jonesborough, Tenn.
Science Hill High School
Barracuda Swim Team
  • Lowe is the no. 22 ranked recruit in Tennessee and will compete in the 500 freestyle, 200 backstroke, and 400 IM.
  • Lowe: "I chose Bellarmine because the campus felt like home. When I stepped on campus the swim team was super encouraging and welcoming."

Liam Connelly
Park Hills, Ky.
Covington Latin School
Northern Kentucky Clippers
  • Connelly will compete in the 400 IM and distance freestyle.
  • Connelly: "I choose Bellarmine to continue my academic and swimming career because I've heard amazing things about their bio-chemistry program."
 
Cason Henderson
Louisville, Ky.
Eastern High School
Triton Swim Club
  • Cason Henderson is the brother of men's sophomore Keegan Henderson.  C. Henderson is considered one of the strongest swimmers coming out of Kentucky in the 200 butterfly, 200 freestyle, and 400 IM. He is the no. 10 recruit in the state of Kentucky.
  • C. Henderson: "I chose Bellarmine because I really felt at home with the team on my visits to campus. I loved how the coaches and counselors cared for me and showed me that I mattered at Bellarmine."
 
Brady Koval
Elizabethtown, Ky.
Elizabethtown High School
Cardinal Aquatics
  • Koval is a 100 & 200 breaststroke specialist holding multiple Elizabethtown High School records.
  • Koval: "The reason I chose Bellarmine was because it offered my desired major and was close to home with a great swim program."
 
Jack Proctor
Liberty Township, Ohio
Stephen T. Badin High School
Powel Crosley Jr. YMCA
  • Proctor is a rising talent from an area rich in swimming talent. He is expected to be one of Bellarmine's strongest sprint freestyle and backstroke swimmers next fall.
  • Proctor: "I chose Bellarmine because on my college visit, I felt a strong sense of community. I was impressed with the swim coaches and academic advisor that I met, and I knew Bellarmine was the right fit for me."
 
Blake Whiteley
Louisville, Ky.
St. Xavier High School
Cardinal Aquatics
  • Blake Whiteley is the younger brother of men's sophomore Kenton Whiteley.  B. Whiteley's strongest strokes are butterfly and backstroke. He currently ranks no. 17 in Kentucky.
  • Whiteley: "I chose to swim at Bellarmine because of the great people, environment and program."
