LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine University men's tennis team swept IU Southeast 7-0 on Friday at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex.
Bellarmine (2-6) won all three doubles matches and all six singles contests against IU Southeast (0-4).
Senior
Ian Deiters and freshman
Paul Reynolds earned a 6-3 win over Brock Winchell/Cade Burman at No. 1 doubles, freshmen
Emil B. Berglund and
Eli Franks knocked off Jerid Inman/Caleb Harris 6-1 at No. 2, and juniors
Sam Rueff and
Nick Johnson bested Sebastian Burman/Connor Mason 6-3 at No. 3.
Berglund (No. 1), Reynolds (No. 2), Deiters (No. 3) and Franks (No. 5) all added a second win in singles action, with each triumphing in straight sets. Sophomore
Michael Staff (No. 4) and junior
Joseph Naville (No. 6) grinded out victories in tiebreakers.
"We were lucky to be able to play this match today," Knights Coach
Will Davis said. "Our athletic training staff, as well as IU Southeast's athletic training staff, did an awesome job in helping us add this match earlier in the week. I thought we played well today. We definitely saw some things that we need to continue to build on throughout the season. We'll get back to work tomorrow before heading to Xavier on Sunday."
