NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Bellarmine University cross country teams opened the season Friday by competing in the Belmont Open at Percy Warner Park.
Both the women's and men's races were 5K.
BELLARMINE'S WOMEN
Bellarmine trailed only Belmont (15) in the team standings, placing second with 55 points.
The Knights had a pair of top-10 finishes as junior
Anna Wells placed seventh and sophomore
Justice Pohlman-Singleton secured ninth. Senior
Lauren Masden provided a third Knight in the top 15 after placing 13th.

Ellie Schroeder followed in 19th and freshman
Hannah Ellis was 20th. Senior
Morgan Kannapel was right behind in 21st and sophomore
Chloe Powell capped the top 7 in 27th.

BELLARMINE'S MEN
Bellarmine tied ASUN rival Lipscomb for second place with 56 each, as Belmont posted a 17 in racing to victory.
Bellarmine's top 4 finishers were freshmen.
Wil Stamm led the way by placing eighth, and he was followed by
Nolan Hester in 11th,
Chase Atkins in 12th and
D.K. Schnieders in 14th.
Senior
Chandler Gibson provided a veteran presence at that point, placing 16th. Freshmen
Ryan Burchett and
Josh Meiman rounded out the top 7 at 17th and 22nd.
"This was a very good start to the season for us," Knights Men's Coach
Chase Broughton said. "The team did a great job of putting themselves in the mix early and competing hard. We are in a very good spot for this point in the season, and I'm excited to see the progression we have over the next eight weeks before the ASUN Championships."
