Men's soccer plays to scoreless draw with Chicago State

CHICAGO, Ill. — The Bellarmine University men's soccer team played to a scoreless stalemate Monday against Chicago State at DePaul's Wish Field.

Junior goalkeeper Matthew Brozovich stopped a penalty kick attempt by Chicago State (2-1-1) in the 78th minute for Bellarmine (2-1-1), which engaged in its third consecutive overtime affair.

Bellarmine had a decisive advantage in overall shots at 12-4, but both teams were credited with four shots on goal. Brozovich saved each of those chances on frame by Chicago State.

Bellarmine outshot the Cougars 7-2 in the first half and 4-1 in the second half. Both teams had one attempt in the first overtime, while neither were credited with a shot in the second extra session.

The contest marked the final of four straight road games to start the season for Bellarmine. The Knights will make their home debut when they welcome Eastern Illinois at 4 p.m. (ET) Sunday.
