PEORIA, Ill. — The Bellarmine University cross country teams put the cherry on top of a strong regular season Friday as the Knights squads combined for five all-time top-50 performances in the Bradley Pink Classic at Newman Golf Course.
For the second straight meet,
Nolan Hester recorded the third-best 8k time in program history. In the Men's Red Race, the sophomore clocked a 24:11.3 and finished 36th overall. Hester remains second on the program's 8k performance list (measures PR), only now with a better time.
Wil Stamm delivered an all-time top-15 performance as well. The sophomore posted a 24:53.7 that ranks 13th in program history. Stamm placed 99th overall.
The women's distance bumped up to a 6k. Once again, as she has every meet this season,
Emma Wells altered the record book. This time, the senior registered the 17th-best 6k time in program history after finishing in 21:44.2 in the Women's Red Race. Wells placed 67th overall and moved up to sixth on the performance list.
Senior
Ellie Schroeder and freshman
Sierra Oesterling made it a siege on the record book. Schroeder's 22:13.6 represented the 37th-best time in program history, while Oesterling's 22:15 is tied for 38th. Schroeder and Oesterling broke into the performance list back-to-back at 12th and 13th. They placed 122nd and 127th, respectively.
Junior
Anna Wells (183rd, 22:51.0) and sophomore
Trisha Sexton (187th, 22:54.9) rounded out Bellarmine's top 5 in the Women's Red Race, while junior
Nick Lewis (158th, 25:23.5), sophomore
Jackson Gawarecki (168th, 25:28.1) and freshman
Nolan White (208th, 25:54.8) filled out the top 5 in the men's version.
Bellarmine's men and women also had competitors in each respective White Race. The Knights men had four top-30 finishers in sophomore
Josh Meiman (20th, 25:52.5), senior
Nate Smith (23rd, 26:02.2), sophomore
Matthew Wantland (24th, 26:02.3) and freshman
Alex Hooten (27th, 26:05.8).
Bellarmine's women had two in the top 75 in sophomores
Hannah Ellis (63rd, 24:03.1) and
Erin Luckett (73rd, 24:23.9).
Bellarmine's women placed 21st of 38 in the Red Race; the Knights men took 22nd of 35. Bellarmine's men were third of 18 in the White Race; the Knights women were 13th of 22.
The ASUN Championship is Oct. 29 at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Alabama.
