LYNCHBURG, Va. — Swimming continued its run of competition at the CCSA Championships on Thursday at the Liberty Natatorium, which included a program record-breaking performance.
The men's 4x50 freestyle relay team of
Jacob Dray,
Aubrey Archer Adams,
Patrick Jackson, and
Will O'Connor finished fifth, but posted a time of 1:23.33, breaking the program record set in 2020 at the GLVC Championships. Adams was also on the previous record-holding team.
In the 4x100,
Adham Howaidy,
Daniel Sims,
Matthew Sims, and
Keegan Henderson likewise placed fifth.
Individually, M. Sims raced to sixth place in the 100 butterfly, which was the top finish by any Bellarmine swimmer on Thursday. Dray finished 10
th in the same event.
Brandon Thomas was the next best finisher, earning eighth in the 400 IM, while
Nicholas Green nabbed 14
th.
Greyson Williams placed 11
th in the 200 freestyle.
On the women's side, the 4x50 relay team of
Grace Lough,
Elizabeth Stevenson,
Morgan Bender, and
Megan McEwen finished ninth.
Maya Sorensen,
Elizabeth Schrenger,
Rachel Walker, and Lough placed ninth in the 4x100 relay.
Rachel Walker highlighted the individual efforts for the Knights, placing 16
th in the 100 butterfly.
Avery Witcher placed 20
th in the 400 IM with
Caroline McMillin earning 25
th in the same event.
The Knights are back in the pool Friday at 10:00 a.m. for day three preliminaries and 6:00 p.m. for finals competition.
