LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine University baseball team's Tuesday game at Murray State has been postponed due to the threat of inclement weather, but the Knights will still play a midweek contest as they'll now head to Lexington to face Kentucky at 3 p.m. (ET) Wednesday.

Bellarmine (1-3) and Kentucky (3-0) have quickly established annual meetings. The Knights were already scheduled to head to UK on April 12. Last season, Bellarmine's first in Division I, the Knights and Wildcats squared off twice, with Kentucky claiming victories of 4-3 and 12-0.

Kentucky, which went 29-23 last year, opened the season by sweeping Bellarmine's ASUN brethren Jacksonville State in a three-game road series. The Wildcats captured victories of 10-8, 6-2 and 15-1.

As a team, Kentucky batted .353 with four homers, six doubles and two triples in the series. Oraj Anu is off to the hottest start at the plate after going 7-for-14 with a homer and five RBIs in the series. Daniel Harris IV was 5-for-11, while Chase Estep and Jacob Plastiak both went deep and combined to go 10-for-23. UK's pitching settled in after the opener and carries a 3.67 team ERA with 35 strikeouts in 27.0 innings pitched after three games.

Bellarmine opened the season with four games in the Jerry Bryson Classic hosted by Gardner-Webb. The Knights were clipped 1-0 by No. 5 Virginia and fell 9-3 to NJIT before splitting two games with GWU, the first a 4-2 win and the second a 9-5 loss.

Senior shortstop Clayton Mehlbauer and senior center fielder Jack Ockerman both hit .400 in the Classic. Mehlbauer launched the team's first homer of 2022 and finished with a team-high 10 total bases. Sophomore first baseman Davis Crane had a 4-for-4 outing in the finale and went 6-for-9 with two doubles in the two games against GWU. Senior right fielder Jacob Mulcahy cranked a two-run homer and had three RBIs in the finale.

Junior righthander Nolan Pender, sophomore lefthander Gavin Braunecker and freshman righthander Arren Hash each delivered a strong start on the mound over the first three games. All tossed at least 4.0 innings and none allowed more than one run.
