St. Bonaventure nips the Knights 13-12

OLEAN, N.Y.—The Bellarmine lacrosse team dropped another close game on Tuesday afternoon, falling to the host St. Bonaventure Bonnies by a final count of 13-12.

Bellarmine (0-5) struck first in the game as Benjamin Hubbs notched his fourth goal of the season off an assist from Benny O'Rourk. The host Bonnies (1-1) then reeled off three in a row to take a 3-1 lead, and the Knights couldn't reclaim the advantage. Bellarmine clawed back to the tie the game on six different occasions but could never get over the hump.

The game's final tie came at 11-11 with just over eight minutes remaining However, SBU's Sean Westley scored two goals to put the Bonnies up 13-11 with two and a half minutes remaining.  Bellarmine got a goal in the waning moments of the game from Denton Macdonald to make the final 13-12.

The Knights won practically every statistical category, but Bonnies goalie Brett Dobson came up with 19 saves to preserve the win for the home team.
