LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
Cole Groetsch topped Tom Brennan in no. 1 singles on Friday, but the Butler Bulldogs defeated Bellarmine 6-1 at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex.
Groetsch has now won four consecutive matches at no. 1 singles with Friday's coming by a final score of 6-1, 7-5. Groetsch and
Jack Batchelor came close in no. 1 doubles, but Brennan and Alvaro Huete Vadillo emerged victorious 7-5. The Bulldogs also won the no. 3 doubles matchup to earn the doubles point.
Butler received singles wins from Michael Dickinson at no. 2, Huete Vadillo at no. 3, Borja Miralles at no. 4, Patrick Joss at no. 5, and Michael Karr at no. 6.
Emil B. Berglund fought hard for the Knights at no. 4 singles, taking Miralles to three sets before ultimately falling 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.
The Knights take a quick road trip to North Alabama on Sunday for an 11:00 a.m. ET ASUN matchup with the Lions.
