5/4/2022 9:03:00 AM

LOUISVILE, Ky.—The Bellarmine University lacrosse team is headed to a postseason tournament for the first time since 2016 when the Knights competed in the Southern Conference Championship.

On Thursday, Bellarmine will play Utah in the first semifinal of the ASUN Conference Championship being held at Milton Frank Stadium in Huntsville, Alabama.

The Knights enter as the No. 4 seed after going 2-3 in league play while the Utes are the top seed, posting a perfect 5-0 record in regular season conference play.  The other semifinal features No. 2 Robert Morris taking on the third-seeded Falcons of Air Force.

Bellarmine and Utah met less than two weeks ago with the Utes taking a 12-11 decision on April 23 in Louisville.  In that contest, the Utes jumped out to a 2-0 lead and the Knights could never overtake the visitors, although the game remained close throughout with five ties and the largest lead being three.

Leading scorers in the game were Tyler Bradbury of Utah with two goals and four assists and Brayden Browed paced the Knights with two goals and two assists.

Utah enters with an overall record of 9-3 and is receiving votes in both national polls.  The Knights come in 4-12 overall with five of those losses coming by just two or fewer goals.

Game time on Thursday is 1 p.m. CDT (2 p.m. EDT).   The ASUN championship game will be played Saturday with a 1 p.m. CDT start.
