CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.--Led by
Alaina Schmitt's T-7 finish, the Bellarmine women's golf team took seventh in the team standings at the 22nd Annual F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate held on Monday and Tuesday at Clarksville Country Club.
Schmitt posted a second round 72 to soar up the leaderboard, and stayed in the top 10 with today's closing round 79 in the Austin Peay-sponsored event with 59 players. As a team, the Knights carded a second round 313, but sandwiched that with opening and closing rounds of 332 to finish 12 shots behind sixth place Tennessee Tech and 29 strokes ahead of eighth place Lindenwood.
Belmont (307-312-301, 920) claimed the team championship by three shots over the host Governors, and Belmont's Delia Gibbs won medalist honors after rounds of 73-80-72 (225). Ten teams competed at the tournament.
Bellarmine's
Jessica Stephens also finished in the top half of the field, securing a T-26 finish after rounds of 80-79-83 (242).
The Knights return to action on Monday as they play at Butler University's fall invitational at Highland Country Club in Indianapolis. The tourney will be 54 holes (36 Monday/18 Tuesday).Â
