LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Bellarmine University swimming placed first in 10 events in a dual against Saint Louis on Saturday at the Mary T. Meagher Aquatic Center.
Junior
John Paul Metzner captured gold in the 50 freestyle (21.65) and tied freshman
Colin Jackson for top honors in the 100 freestyle (47.81). Sophomore
Sam Jones touched the wall first in the 1000 freestyle (9:48.17), as did freshman
Evan Dickson in the 200 freestyle (1:43.38).
Senior
Kenton Whiteley placed first in the 200 IM (1:58.01), sophomore
Cason Henderson did as well in the 200 butterfly (1:54.62) and so did junior
Brandon Thomas in the 200 breaststroke (2:11.29).
Sophomore
Blake Whiteley, senior
Andrew Nguyen, Metzner and Jackson topped the 400 medley relay (3:30.77).
Junior
Alexandra Pierce secured gold in two women's events, the 200 IM (2:10.54) and 200 breaststroke (2:24.05). Freshman
Charlotte Tully was the runner-up in the former along with the 200 backstroke.
Senior
Liz Stevenson also had a pair of silvers, in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle. Junior
Johnnise Garcia placed second in the 1000 freestyle.
Freshman
Brady Campbell was the runner-up in the men's 1000 freestyle, as was Henderson in the 200 freestyle, Thomas in the 200 butterfly and Jones in the 500 freestyle.
Bellarmine's men won 120-85, while Saint Louis' women won 140-62.
Bellarmine will compete Nov. 9-11 in the Southern Illinois Invite.
