LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine University women's basketball team tuned up for its 2023-24 campaign with an 83-36 win over Spalding in an exhibition Sunday afternoon in Freedom Hall.
All 10 Knights who saw action scored and had at least one rebound while all but one notched a steal. Bellarmine led 25-9 after one quarter and 46-19 at halftime.
Five players scored in double figures for Bellarmine, including four with 12 points. Junior guard

Paetynn Gray, in their first respective game settings with the Knights, both registered 12 points, as did senior guard

Aly Avrach drained a trio of 3-pointers in chipping in 11.
Bellarmine forced 33 turnovers and scored 38 points off the takeaways. The Knights amassed 24 steals, with six coming from Gray and four apiece coming from Knies and senior guard

Miyah Brown added to a defensive effort that held Spalding to 19.7-percent shooting with four blocks.

Mackenzie Keelin added seven boards apiece.
Bellarmine shot an even 50 percent overall but was particularly efficient through three quarters, when the Knights were hitting at a 59.2-percent clip.
Bellarmine will open the season Nov. 9 at San Jose State and play Nov. 12 at No. 4 UCLA.
