LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Bellarmine men's tennis team had its six-match home win streak snapped on Sunday, as the Knights fell to Belmont 4-3.
The Bruins (6-2) swept all three doubles matches which earned them a critical point in a tight overall match.
In singles, Bellarmine (6-6) claimed wins at the no.4, no. 5, and no. 6 spots.
Paul Reynolds battled for a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 three-set victory over Riccardo Trione at no. 4 singles, while
Vineet Ramesh cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Gabriel Sardo at no. 5 singles.
Eli Wood also took care of business for Bellarmine at no. 6 singles, with a 7-6, 6-3 win over Tomas Luis.
Belmont captured singles victories in the top three spots - the last of which came at no. 3 singles. Bellarmine's
Jack Batchelor and Belmont's Ian Cruz fought into a third set, and Cruz came out on top with a 2-6, 7-6, 7-6 win.
Kyle Tang also battled valiantly at no. 1 singles, falling to Marko Ilic 6-7, 7-5, 6-3.
Bellarmine concludes its primary non-conference stretch and 10-match homestand next weekend with matches against Oakland City and Centre on Sunday, March 5.
