FISHERS, Ind. — The Bellarmine University swim teams opened the season Sunday in the Butler Double Dual at Fishers High School in Indiana.
Bellarmine, Butler, Xavier, Saint Louis and IUPUI competed on the women's side, while the same teams with the exception of Butler met on the men's side. The meet marked the head-coaching debut of Bellarmine's
Gord Veldman.
Junior
Alexandra Pierce was the runner-up in the women's 200 breaststroke (2:28.43). Senior
Liz Stevenson finished in the top half of two events, placing 10th in the 50 freestyle (25.58) and 100 freestyle (56.90).
Senior
Grace Lough placed in the upper echelon of the 100 freestyle (56.81) as well after taking ninth. Freshman
Charlotte Tully secured a sixth in the 200 backstroke (2:11.88).
On the men's side, sophomore
Cason Henderson placed third in the 200 butterfly (1:55.54). Senior
Keegan Henderson finished in the top half in two events, placing fifth in the 50 freestyle (22.23) and eighth in the 100 freestyle (48.98).
Freshman
Evan Dickson placed in the upper echelon of the 200 freestyle (1:46.23) after taking eighth, and freshman
Brady Campbell did the same after finishing seventh in the 500 freestyle (4:51.76).
Bellarmine will face FGCU and Florida Atlantic at FGCU on Oct. 13-14.
