LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Sophomore
Vineet Ramesh earned a singles victory, but Louisville defeated the Bellarmine University men's tennis team 6-1 in the Knights' spring opener Wednesday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
At No. 4 singles, Ramesh secured a 6-4 win in the first set over Kosuke Nakanishi, dropped the second 2-6 and followed with a 13-11 clincher in the tiebreaker for Bellarmine (0-1). Ramesh improved to 7-2 in singles play.
Louisville (2-0) captured the other five singles matches in straight sets, although the Knights showed consistent improvement in the second frames. Junior
Jack Batchelor, at No. 1, and senior
Kyle Tang, at No. 3, both won five games in their respective second sets before being edged 5-7.
Louisville won at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles to secure that point.
Bellarmine will host UIC at 1:30 p.m. (ET) Friday.
