HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Bellarmine field hockey team dropped a 6-0 decision at James Madison Friday evening in Mid-American Conference play.
The loss for Bellarmine (3-10, 1-5 MAC) provides an unfortunate blow the Knights' chances of finishing in the top six of the conference to earn a bid to their first MAC Championship. The Knights now sit 1.5 games back of the sixth spot with two conference games remaining, though Ohio currently occupies the sixth spot and owns the head-to-head tiebreaker with the Knights.
Six different players scored goals for James Madison (10-3, 5-0 MAC): Mia Julian, Ava Drexler-Amey, Lilly Turner, Skyler Brown, Cassidy Strittmatter and Carissa Tambroni. Tambroni also tallied two JMU's five assists.
The first-place Dukes outshot the Knights 24-3, 18-2 on goal. They also owned the advantage in penalty corners, 10-1, converting three into scores.
Bellarmine will try to bounce back in a nonconference matchup Sunday at Towson beginning at 12 p.m. ET.
