LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Bellarmine University baseball announced the team rosters for the BellyBoys Black & Scarlet Fall World Series, which is set to take place Friday to Sunday, with first pitch at 3 p.m. (ET) each day at Knights Field.
The teams, named the SwordSlingers, led by coach Brandon Boxer, and the Newburg KnightRiders, led by coach
Nolan Pender, were drafted on Thursday afternoon in a live event.

Coach Boxer expressed his confidence in his newly formed SwordSlingers team.
"We have a really well-rounded competitive group of guys," Boxer said. "The SwordSlingers wake up and eat dirt, they are a gritty group. We had great picks during the whole draft, and I am excited to sit back and watch them dominate during the Belly Boys World Series."
Coach Pender was enthusiastic about his selections for the Newburg KnightRiders.
"The draft was overall very successful," Pender said. "We put an early focus on getting veteran bats in our lineup. By picking Scales and Sorg with my first two picks, I had the roots for my team. Two strong offensive threats who can act as captains on both sides of the field. Our offense is packed with power bats from the start to finish and any lack of power is equally met with speed and a savvy base running mindset. Our pitching staff has a unique variety of skill sets with a strong young core.
Cooper Hellman,
Chase Carver and
Sam Matherly should be heavy contributors to our pitching load with starting experience out of all three arms. Our relief pitching will be able to eat innings and will really turn some heads with elite breaking stuff. Injured players
Ross Goldschlag and
Jake Agarwal will be key pieces in the dugout helping lead the team this weekend. Overall, the draft allowed us to create a team that will be hard to beat. Facing nine guys at the plate who won't back down from the fight and a pitching staff who is eager to have the ball in their hand will take this team far."
