Harrison scores 26 but KSU duo lifts Owls over women's basketball

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Carly Hooks and Prencis Harden combined for 50 points to lead Kennesaw State to an 85-75 win over the Bellarmine University women's basketball team Thursday night in Atlantic Sun Conference action in Freedom Hall.

Hooks made nine field goals and nine free throws in recording a game-high 30 points while Harden hit 7-of-11 shots in notching 20 with 10 rebounds for Kennesaw State (10-13, 6-4 ASUN), which shot 51.9 percent from the floor and outrebounded the Knights 49-28.

Hayley Harrison tallied a team-high 26 points for Bellarmine (7-15, 2-8). That output tied her season high in a conference game, and her 15 made free throws in 18 attempts were both career highs. The junior guard also had four assists and four rebounds.

Junior guard Hope Sivori registered 13 points, six rebounds and three assists while tying a career high with five steals. Senior guard Ashlee Harris chipped in 11 points and sophomore guard Miyah Brown corralled eight rebounds for Bellarmine, which was tied at 36 at halftime with the Owls.

The third quarter was a slog as the teams combined to shoot 30 free throws in the period. Bellarmine went 14-for-17 and Kennesaw State 9-for-13 from the charity stripe in a frame that saw 18 fouls called.

Bellarmine held its last lead of the game at 55-54 with 2:21 left in the third. Kennesaw State sank a 3-pointer just ahead of the buzzer to take a 64-59 advantage into the fourth.

Once there, the Owls didn't let their lead dip below five until Sivori nailed a 3-pointer with 4:18 left to cut the deficit to 72-68. However, KSU answered when Trynce Taylor completed an old-fashioned three-point play off an offensive rebound. The Owls then held off the Knights at the free-throw line.

Bellarmine will host Queens at 1 p.m. (ET) Saturday.
