LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Redshirt junior defender Sidney Rigsby and redshirt sophomore defender Dakota Bramer have been appointed team captains of the Bellarmine University women's soccer team for the 2024 season.

"I am super excited to announce Sidney and Dakota as our 2024 captains," head coach Callie McKinney said. "They both represent our culture and core values. These two young women are deserving of this title. They hold themselves to high standards as well as holding their teammates accountable to being the best they can be for the team and for themselves. They love and support their teammates well and advocate for them. They are women that empower women. I know they will lead the team well this year, and I am excited to mentor them along the way."

A returning captain, Rigsby started all 32 games in which she appeared the last two seasons. The center back eclipsed 1,000 minutes in both campaigns, racking up 1,362 in 2023 while scoring a goal against ASUN counterpart Jacksonville. The native of Lebanon, Ohio, played the entire game in four matches and played 66 minutes or more in every contest except one. She was named to the 2023 Academic All-ASUN Team.

As a redshirt freshman last season, Bramer started all 16 matches in which she appeared and logged 961 minutes. The native of Georgetown, Indiana, notched an assist against Northern Kentucky. The outside back amassed 62 minutes or more in 11 matches. She was an ASUN Honor Roll recipient.
