LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Head coach
Doug Davenport earned his first career win Wednesday night in Knights Hall as Bellarmine routed Hanover in their first home game of the 2025-26 season by a 94-55 final.
Bellarmine (1-2) shot 57.4 percent from the field and held Hanover to 32.8 percent. The game counted as an exhibition for the visiting Panthers, who play in the Division III Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
It was all Knights in the first half as they raced out to a 41-25 lead at the break, aided by a buzzer-beating three from well beyond halfcourt by
Kenyon Goodin. Goodin finished the first half with 16 points, connecting on all six of his attempts from the field, including three treys.
Brian Waddell had 11 points in the first half.
Goodin added another three in the second half and finished the game with 19 points on a perfect 7-for-7 shooting performance. The Collins product added three rebounds, three assists and a steal over his 22 minutes.
Waddell finished with 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting and grabbed five rebounds.
Michael Wilson Jr. was also in double digits with 12 and, though he did not score, freshman big man
Jacob Wassler pulled down 10 boards, handed out three assists and swatted a shot in just his second collegiate game.
Davenport was able to work deep into his bench, getting 12 guys on the floor for at least eight minutes each. The Knights were, however, without
Jack Karasinski. The senior, who missed seven games a year ago, currently leads Bellarmine averaging 20.5 points per game.
Jumping off the stat sheet was Bellarmine's domination in transition, outscoring Hanover 26-2 on fast breaks, as well as in the paint, where the hosts outscored their visitors 54-18.
The win for the Knights snapped a two-game skid in home openers and a five-game skid against teams from Indiana.
The younger Davenport is now just 425 wins shy of matching his father, Scott's, total.
Bellarmine is back with another home game at Knights Hall Saturday against Wofford in their first of two games that are part of the ASUN and Southern Conference scheduling alliance. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. ET.
