Van Hoy honored as ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Bellarmine setter Kylie Van Hoy has been named ASUN Scholar Athlete of the Year, the conference announced Wednesday afternoon.

With the honor, Van Hoy is the first Knight to win an ASUN superlative award in volleyball program history.

The senior etched her name in the record book already this season when she recorded her 2,000th career assist, becoming the first player in the Division I era and ninth player in program history to do so. A leader on the court and in the classroom, Van Hoy owns a cumulative 3.96 GPA as a neuroscience major and finished the season ranked fourth in total assists with 861 and in assists per set with 8.44. A Loogootee, IN native, Van Hoy recorded 20+ assists in 13 of her 15 ASUN contests and tallied 30+ nine times and 40+ five times.

Additionally, the conference announced the Academic All-ASUN team which featured four Knights in seniors Tessa Nauert, Addie Poehner and Van Hoy and junior Natalie Bland. Nauert finished her career as the Division I era leader in aces with 105 and carries a 3.69 GPA as a business administration major. Poehner owns a 3.55 GPA as an exercise science major and has played in 80% of matches since she came to Bellarmine after spending the first two years of her career at Furman. Bland, led Bellarmine's offense this season with 333 kills, averaging 3.14 per set along with 3.54 points per set. Off the court, Bland boasts a 3.79 GPA as a criminal justice major.
