TUCSON, Ariz. —
Rose Jamison registered a game-high 20 points, but the Bellarmine University women's basketball team fell 105-59 to Arizona on Thursday night at McKale Memorial Center.
Jamison sank a trio of 3-pointers and the redshirt junior guard/forward's 20 points were a career high at the Division-I level for shorthanded Bellarmine (2-10), which had just seven players available against Arizona (9-2). The Knights played the fourth of a five-game road swing.
Sophomore forward
Rachel Shropshire tied a career high with 10 points and added a career-best four assists. Sophomore guard
Ava Smith distributed a career-high five assists and her 13 points were one shy of matching a career best. Freshman center
Haya Abdel Aal and redshirt junior forward
Andrea Chiquemba notched eight points apiece.
Bellarmine head coach
Monique Reid and Arizona head coach Becky Burke were former teammates at Louisville. Burke recorded her 100th win as a head coach at the D1 level.
Bellarmine took a 9-8 lead in the first quarter after Shropshire followed a pair of 3-pointers by Smith with one of her own. The Wildcats scored on the ensuing possession and led the rest of the way.
Six players scored in double figures for Arizona, which shot 56.4 percent from the floor. The Wildcats shot 52.9 percent or higher in every quarter.
Bellarmine will conclude the 2025 portion of the schedule with its final nonconference game, a 7 p.m. (ET) contest Sunday at No. 20 Notre Dame.
