KNOXVILLE, Tn. – Bellarmine University swimming concluded the four-day Atlantic Sun Conference Championship on Saturday, turning in six more school records at the University of Tennessee's Allan Jones Aquatic Center.
In total, Bellarmine recorded 19 new school records, 12 from the men and seven from the women.
The men got started in the 1650 freestyle with
Sam Jones earning nine points after placing ninth in the event.
Evan Jones added four points with a 13
th place finish with
Brady Campbell adding two points in 15
th place.
John Paul Metzner earned five points after a 12
th place finish in the 100 freestyle, turning in a time of 45.10 to set a new school record.
Three more men tallied points in the 200 backstroke, led by
Colin Jackson's eighth-place finish (11 pts) with a school record time of 1:48.51.
Logan Lacombe finished 11
th in the event (6 pts) while
Jack Proctor placed 14
th (3 pts).
Brandon Thomas and
Andrew Nguyen both scored points for the Knights in the 200 breaststroke with Thomas earning six points in 11
th place and Nguyen earning three points in 14
th.
Metzner, Jackson,
Britton Pianki and
Evan Dickson swam the 400 freestyle relay, turning in a time of 3:03.50 to place fifth and score 28 points. The time was also good enough to set a new school record.
For the women,
Lily Wolfe (8
th, 11 pts) and
Coral Brogan (16
th, 1 pt) scored for Bellarmine in the 1650 freestyle.
In the 200 backstroke,
Micaela Godfrey placed 9
th (9 pts) while setting a school record with a time of 2:00.58.
Lauren Diercks placed 11
th event and scored six points.
Alexandra Pierce rounded out the women's individual effort with a sixth-place finish in the 200 breaststroke, scoring 13 points. Pierce set a school record with a time of 2:18.16 in prelims before topping the mark in the finals with a 2:18.03.
Ava Jones,
Lily Epley, Godfrey and
Kate Ryan swam the 400 freestyle relay in a school record time of 3:29.97, good for seventh place and 24 points.
Bellarmine's men placed fifth and the women seventh. Queens (924.5) won the men's title while Liberty (858.5) won the women's.
