LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Bellarmine University men's tennis team capped off its home weekend with an exciting 4-3 Senior Day win over Eastern Kentucky at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex on Sunday afternoon.
With the win, Bellarmine improves to 6-9 overall and 2-3 in Atlantic Sun Conference action.
The Knights got off on the right foot, winning the doubles point.
Louie Fletcher and
Eli Wood got things started with a 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles before
Matthew Nice and
Vineet Ramesh secured the point with 6-3 win on court two.
Moving into singles, Eastern Kentucky got on the board with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles.
On court three,
Vineet Ramesh evened the score after taking a 6-1, 6-1 victory for the Knights to wrap up the first round of singles.
EKU moved one point closer to claiming the match with another singles win on court six, but the Knights were determined to pull out the win. Brent Reynold brought things back to a 3-3 tie with a 6-1, 6-4 win on court five before
Eli Wood secured the match point at No. 4 singles, defeating his opponent 7-5, 6-2.
The win marked the Knights' second of the weekend with both coming down to the wire. Bellarmine defeated Queens 4-3 on Friday.
Up next, Bellarmine will host its final home match of the season, welcoming Austin Peay to the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex on Wednesday, April 2.
