OXFORD, Ohio – The Bellarmine University field hockey team dropped an 11-0 decision to Miami (OH) in their Mid-American Conference opener Friday afternoon at the Miami Field Hockey Complex.

Miami (5-3, 1-0 MAC) fired 36 shots, 15 on goal, and converted three of their 11 corners.
The 11 goals for the RedHawks matched their highest total in program history, set on October 25, 1975 against Cedarville in just their second season.
Graduate back Berta Mata notched a hat trick while senior middie Paula Navarro and freshman middie Justina Intzes each registered a brace. Junior middie Sloane Wearren (a product of Sacred Heart Academy in Louisville), freshman forward Bet Gifra, freshman back Jülia Fernandez and freshman middie Malena Sabez each recorded single goals. Wearren added three assists while Mata, Gifra and senior back Becca Lawn also chipped in single helpers. Intzes and Sabez are now both tied for fourth in the MAC averaging 1.00 goal per game. Wearren raised her assist average to 1.40 per game, second in the conference.
