AUBURN, Al. – Bellarmine men's tennis opened its spring schedule on Saturday with a doubleheader at Auburn University, falling 7-0 in the first match and 5-0 in the second at the Yarbrough Tennis Center.
In the morning session, senior
Matthew Nice and freshman
Ryan Parkins pushed their Auburn opponents the most, forcing extra points in the opening game. Playing as the Knights No. 1, Nice matched up with No. 40 ranked Hamza Nasridinov, pushing the first game to 7-5 before dropping another close battle 6-3. Parkins, the No. 4 single for Bellarmine, also forced extra points against Joey Phillips, dropping the first game 7-5 before falling 6-4 in the second.
In the afternoon match, senior
Vineet Ramesh faced off against Phillips, dropping the opening game 6-3 before making a run in the second, ultimately falling 7-5.
Up next, Bellarmine will take two weeks off before hitting the court again, traveling to Muncie, IN on January 24 for a dual at Ball State.
