LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Bellarmine women's tennis continues its spring season this week, traveling to Lynchburg, VA to take on Liberty University and University of Delaware at the Liberty Indoor Tennis Center.
Originally scheduled for January 24-25, the matches were moved up to tomorrow, January 22 due to inclement weather in the Lynchburg area. The Knights will begin the day against Liberty at 9 am E.T. before taking on Delaware in a neutral site match at 12:30 pm E.T.
The Knights opened their spring season last Saturday, hosting University of the Cumberlands and Marshall at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex. Bellarmine started the day with a 6-1 win over Cumberlands before falling in a close match to Marshall, 5-2.
Bellarmine is 6-3 at this point in the year and has already doubled its win total from last season. It is the second highest win total in Bellarmine's Division I era, three shy of the nine wins in 2023-24.
Liberty spent the entire fall in tournament play to prepare for its spring dual season. The Flames are 1-1 to start the season after opening with a 6-1 win over Western Carolina, followed by a 7-0 loss to No. 4 Auburn. A former member of the Atlantic Sun Conference (2019-23), Liberty is a familiar opponent for the Knights with five meetings in the all-time series. The Flames own a 5-0 advantage in the series with a 4-0 win in the most recent meeting (4/15/23).
Delaware has not yet played a dual match yet this season and will play its first against the Knights on Thursday afternoon. The contest will also be the first meeting between the Knights and the Blue Hens in program history.
