LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Knights track and field is set to host the PNC Bank Bellarmine Classic on Friday at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center.
Action is set to begin at 10 a.m. (ET) with the shot put. The Knights are hosting a meet for the second consecutive week after overseeing the Bellarmine Open last Friday.
Schools expected to be represented at the meet alongside Bellarmine include Louisville, Eastern Kentucky, Morehead State, Xavier, Evansville, Southern Indiana, Wright State, Illinois Springfield, West Virginia State, Transylvania, Campbellsville, University of the Cumberlands, Vincennes and Missouri Baptist.
Bookended by three regular-season meets on either side, the PNC Bank Bellarmine Classic will mark the midway point of the indoor regular season. The Knights are building toward the Feb. 27-28 ASUN Indoor Championship, which they'll also host at the Norton SLC.
At the Bellarmine Open, junior
Aubrey Lane placed first in the women's 800m (2:16.61) while
Caysie Brady set a new women's freshman program record in the weight throw (14.92m).
Bellarmine's men posted two runner-up finishes — senior
Jackson Gordon in the 400m (48.18) and freshman
Landen Fernandez in the 800m (1:58.39).
Gordon ranks second in the ASUN in the 400m (48.18) and combines with sophomore
Grant King, freshman
Tucker Smith and senior
Zac Hutslar for a top ranking in the 4x400m relay (3:16.54). Senior
Zander Hooten (third, 60m hurdles, 7.99), freshman
Dylan Forster (third, shot put, 15.26m) and sophomore
Will Bracher (fourth, weight throw, 16.73m) also own top-5 ASUN men's rankings.
On the women's side, junior
Amelia Svidal is ranked third in the ASUN in the triple jump (11.79m) and Lane is fourth in the 800m (2:16.61).
