LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Bellarmine men's tennis will continue spring play with three matches this weekend, first playing on the road at Tennessee before returning home for a pair of matches at home.
The Knights will conclude its road swing on Thursday, January 29 with a trip to University of Tennessee for a 1 pm E.T. match at the Goodfriend Tennis Center. From there, BU will return to Louisville for its home debut on Saturday, January 31 to host University of North Dakota at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex at 1 pm E.T. On Sunday, February 1, Bellarmine will host Atlantic Sun foe Eastern Kentucky at 6 pm E.T.
Bellarmine (0-3) is still looking for its first dual win of the year after falling 4-3 at Ball State last Saturday. In the match, freshmen
Colby Berson and
Ryan Parkins led the way with two wins each as Berson and Parkins both helped their doubles team to a victory before both winning a singles match.
Tennessee is 2-3 to start the year, owning a pair of wins over ETSU. In their most recent match, the Volunteers fell to Texas A&M 4-1 in the ITA Kick Off Weekend event. Thursday will mark the first ever meeting between Bellarmine and Tennessee.
North Dakota is off to a perfect 4-0 start to the season. The Fighting Hawks have taken on and defeated Marquette (7-0), Montana State (4-3), Lewis-Clark (6-1) and Idaho (4-3). North Dakota has one match on its schedule before meeting with the Knights in Louisville, traveling to Indianapolis to face off against IU Indy on January 30. Bellarmine and North Dakota met for the first time in program history last season when the Knights traveled to Grand Forks, ND for a doubleheader, dropping both matches.
Eastern Kentucky begins its season 2-4, earning wins against Butler (4-3) and IU Indy (5-2). In their most recent match, the Colonels fell 6-1 at Middle Tennessee. EKU will play the same schedule as the Knights this week, facing off at Tennessee on Thursday afternoon before taking on North Dakota on Saturday afternoon at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex. Although a fellow member of the ASUN conference, Sunday's match between Bellarmine and Eastern Kentucky will not count as an official ASUN match with the conference electing to not hold a regular season schedule this season. The match will however give Bellarmine a first-hand look at potential competition at the conference tournament at the end of the season. Bellarmine owns a 3-1 record over Eastern Kentucky in the all-time series, winning the most recent match 4-3 on March 30, 2025.
