LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Bellarmine men's basketball will set out on its final road contest of the season at North Alabama before returning home for a senior day celebration and the final game of the year against Austin Peay.
The Knights will first travel to Florence, AL on Wednesday, February 25 to take on the Lions at 7:45 pm E.T. at CB&S Bank Arena. Bellarmine will then return home to Knights Hall on Saturday, February 28 to host Austin Peay at 2 pm E.T. for the final regular season game of the season. Before play commences on Saturday, the Knights will honor four seniors – Darrius Bolde,
Brian Waddell,
Myles Watkins and
Jack Karasinski and student manager
Aidan Welborn.
Both games will be broadcast live on ESPN+. The radio broadcast of both games will be available on ESPN 680/105.7 or online at ESPNLouisville.com. Live stats will be available on the North Alabama (Wednesday) and Bellarmine (Saturday) websites.
Bellarmine has fallen in three straight contests, including two one possession games the last two times out. Over the stretch, the Knights have shot .530 from the field and .415 from deep.
Against Eastern Kentucky, Karasinski and Waddell combined for 54 points, scoring 31 and 23, respectively. Karasinski once again led the team, setting a new career best mark with 31 points, hitting nine of his 15 shots, 6-of-11 from three, while adding two rebounds and two assists. Waddell was nearly perfect from the floor, going 10-of-11 on the night in addition to a game-high seven boards, three assists and two steals.
Over his last nine games,
Jack Karasinski has taken his game to the next level, scoring 23.2 points per game while shooting .568 (67-for-118) from the field and .500 (28-for-56) from beyond the arc. The senior has set a new career-high twice in the last three games, scoring 30 and 31 points at Austin Peay and vs EKU, respectively. Over the stretch, he has scored 23+ six times while never going for less than 17. He is the first Knight to score 30+ points multiple times in a season since
Ben Johnson did so in 2023-24 (2x). Karasinski has scored 20+ points 14 times, including a streak of 7 straight from 11/25-1/3. His .552 FG% is 4th in the ASUN and 60th in the NCAA. He currently leads the ASUN, scoring 20.3 points per game and owns the second highest KenPom offensive rating in college basketball this season at 127.9.
As a team, BU ranks third nationally with their .520 FG% and fifth with their .598 effective FG%. Bellarmine is also eighth nationally with their .789 FT% and 16th shooting .380 from deep, all marks good for best in the ASUN.
About the Lions
North Alabama is 8-19 overall and 3-13 in Atlantic Sun Conference play entering the final week of the regular season. The Lions have lost each of their last two contests, falling to Queens 85-78 and Lipscomb 73-51. UNA got its last win on February 15, topping Eastern Kentucky 84-78 in overtime. Senior Donte Bacchus is UNA's leading scorer at 14.9 points per game. Bacchus has scored 20+ points seven times this season, including five in the last nine. Corneilous Williams has led the ASUN in rebounding for nearly the entire season and is currently averaging 9.6 boards per game. As a team, the Lions are ranked 22
nd in the country with only 14.9 fouls per game.
Bellarmine and North Alabama have met 10 times since BU rose to Division I. The Knights own a 6-4 advantage in the all-time series but have lost the two meetings and four of the last five. In the most recent meeting on January 10, the Lions came out on top, 82-73 in Knights Hall.
About the Governors
Austin Peay is 21-6 overall and owns an ASUN leading 15-1 record in conference play. The Governors have won 10 straight games with their lost coming on January 17 to Lipscomb, 82-78. Before the loss, APSU had won seven consecutive games. Austin Peay will first host Central Arkansas in a battle for the outright title on Wednesday night before traveling to Louisville for the final game of the regular season on Saturday. Grad Student Collin Parker leads the Governors with 17.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. Parker has scored in double figures in eight straight games. Freshman Zyree Collins is third on APSU with 13.7 points per game this season with his 2.3 steals per game pacing all freshman in the NCAA while also leading the ASUN. In the last meeting between the Knights and Governors, Collins recorded his first career double-double with 16 points and an Austin Peay freshman record of 14 assists.
Bellarmine and Austin Peay have met six times since BU joined Division I. The Governors currently hold a 4-2 advantage in the all-time series and won the last meeting 90-70 on February 14 in Clarksville. Bellarmine got the better of APSU two meetings ago, winning 94-68 on February 18, 2025 after losing the two previous matchups in overtime.
