Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 RICHMOND, Ky. – Bellarmine softball began its first Atlantic Sun Conference road trip today with a doubleheader at Eastern Kentucky, falling in both games on Saturday afternoon at Gerturde Hood Field.

After winning their first ASUN series of the season, the Knights (9-19, 2-3 ASUN) fell 2-1 and 8-0 in the first two games of their series at Eastern Kentucky.

Freshman Tia Ice brought home Bellarmine's lone run in game one, smoking a double into the right field corner in the top of the fourth inning to tie the game 1-1.

Eastern Kentucky (15-14, 4-1 ASUN) retook a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the frame on an RBI ground out before keeping BU at bay for the remainder of the game to secure the win.

Sophomore Lauren Guthrie led Bellarmine in game one, recording two of the team's five hits, including a double.

Despite the lopsided score of the second game, the Knights played tough for four innings, only allowing two runs to the Colonels.

EKU broke the game open in the fifth with three runs to open a 5-0 lead before putting up another three runs in the sixth to put the mercy rule in effect for an 8-0 victory.

The Colonel's starting pitcher, Victoria Byrum, was the star of the game as she hurled a 6.0 no hitter while racking up 10 strikeouts with just a single walk.

Up next, Bellarmine and Eastern Kentucky will conclude the series with a third and final game tomorrow, March 22.
