LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Bellarmine University track and field will host the annual
Jim Vargo Invitational on Saturday at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium.
The event is the Knights' lone home meet of the outdoor season and is named after Bellarmine Athletics Hall of Famer
Jim Vargo, who was a standout student-athlete before becoming a longtime and storied XC/TF coach at the university.
Schools expected to be represented at the meet alongside Bellarmine include: Louisville, Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky, Morehead State, Western Kentucky, Northern Kentucky, Xavier, Spalding, Simmons College of Kentucky, Transylvania, Kentucky State, Midway, Ferris State, Vincennes and Lawrence Tech.
Bellarmine opened the outdoor season at the Ole Miss Classic and set several new program records.
Caysie Brady established new overall and freshman marks in the women's discus (46.60m) and a new freshman mark in the hammer throw (50.87m).
Junior
Amelia Svidal broke her own program record while setting a new standard in the triple jump (12.15m).
Taevion Sweeney rewrote the men's freshman program record in the 400m hurdles (53.95).
Brady is ranked first in the ASUN in the discus and fourth in the hammer throw. Svidal is second in the conference in the triple jump and tied for fourth in the high jump (5.63m).

Zac Hutslar are atop the ASUN's 4x100m men's relay rankings (41.55). King is ranked second in both the 100m (10.63) and 200m (21.62), as is Hooten in the 110m hurdles (14.43), senior
Alex Cole in the discus (42.92m) and freshman
Dylan Forster in the shot put (15.65m).
Sophomore
Will Bracher is ranked third in the shot put (14.43m) and junior
Enrico Busato is fourth (14.02m). Busato is third in the discus (40.46m).
Sweeney is ranked third in the 400m hurdles and Olmsted is fifth (1:00.39) while senior
Alex Hooten is ranked fourth in the 800m (1:52.07).
