OXFORD, Miss. —
Caysie Brady established new program records in two throwing events while
Amelia Svidal and
Taevion Sweeney each rewrote an esteemed mark as Bellarmine University track and field opened its outdoor season Friday-Saturday by competing in the Ole Miss Classic.
Brady set new overall and freshman program records in the women's discus with a 46.60m sling while placing fourth. Her performance topped Leah Wolf's longstanding overall mark of 45.11m from the 2017 GLVC Championships and Ally Kluender's freshman mark of 41.22m from the 2018 Centre Twilight.
Brady also established a new freshman program record in the hammer throw with a 50.87m heave while placing ninth. Her toss bested Emily Tuma's 44.34m throw from the 2019 GLVC Championships.
Amelia Svidal broke her own program record in the triple jump, setting a new standard with a 12.15m leap while placing second. The junior's previous mark was 11.95m in her gold medal-winning performance at the 2025 ASUN Championships. She also placed seventh in the long jump (5.63m).
Taevion Sweeney established a new men's freshman program record in the 400m hurdles after placing third in 53.95, which bested
Zander Hooten's 54.62 from the 2023 ASUN Championships.
Hooten, now a senior, was the runner-up in the 110m hurdles (14.43), while senior
Alex Hooten took third in the 800m (1:52.07) and sophomore
Grant King was fifth in the 200m (21.62) and 11th in the 100m (10.63). King,

Zac Hutslar placed third in the 4x100 relay (41.55).
Junior
Chase Austin (eighth, 3:58.30), freshman
Jack Moutardier (16th, 4:04.08) and freshman
Jared Fairbanks (18th, 4:05.73) all placed in the upper half of the 1500m, as did freshman
Marcelo Herald in the long jump (6.62m).
Freshman
Dylan Forster placed fifth in the shot put (15.65m) and sophomore
Will Bracher was eighth (14.43m). Bracher took seventh in the hammer throw (47.13m), as did junior
Alex Cole in the discus (42.92m), with junior
Enrico Busato finishing ninth (40.46m).
Junior
Aubrey Lane was the runner-up in the women's 800m (2:12.93) and senior
Jansen Story was ninth (2:19.51). Junior
Annie Somwe placed in the upper half of the 200m (21st, 25.53).
Bellarmine will host the
Jim Vargo Invitational on Saturday.
