LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Bellarmine men's tennis dropped a 4-1 decision on the road at Eastern Kentucky on Wednesday afternoon at the Greg Adams Tennis Center.
The Colonels secured the early advantage by sweeping the doubles point, taking courts one and two by identical 6-2 scores to move ahead 1-0. The third doubles match was left unfinished.
In singles play, Matthew Nice delivered the lone point for the Knights with a strong performance at the top spot. Nice defeated EKU's Nuno Pinheiro in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2, to even the match briefly and highlight Bellarmine's effort on the day.
Eastern Kentucky responded by claiming the remaining completed singles matches. Eli Wood and Ryan Perkins each fell in straight sets, while Alex English was forced to retire in his match. Three other singles contests went unfinished as EKU clinched the team victory.
Bellarmine returns to action Friday for Senior Day against Lipscomb at 2:30 p.m. ET.
