LOUDONVILLE, NY — Bellarmine University lacrosse's John Alie was among 78 honorees in the inaugural class for the Coach Liam Gleason Humanitarian Award.

Seventy-seven NCAA Division I men's lacrosse student-athletes and Kennedy Gleason, daughter of Coach Liam Gleason, are the 2026 recipients of the award.

The Liam Gleason Humanitarian Award, established in January 2026 by family members, former coaches and friends close to Liam, honors its inaugural group of recipients exemplifying leadership, unwavering support for teammates and staff, outstanding sportsmanship and meaningful community involvement.

A two-time team captain, Alie was a three-time All-ASUN selection who was named ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2025. The native of Aurora, Colorado, was twice recognized on the Academic All-ASUN Team and had a career sweep of ASUN Honor Roll accolades.

As a senior, Alie capped his prolific tenure at Bellarmine by finishing the regular season as the national leader in total points (75) while ranking fourth in the country in total goals (47), 10th in goals per game (2.94), 14th in points per game (4.69) and tied for 19th in total assists (28).

For his career, the attackman departed Bellarmine as the program's all-time leader in goals (149), shots (388) and shots on goal (269) while ranking second in points (212) and third in assists (63).

"John is the embodiment of the student-athlete in Division I lacrosse," Knights head coach Andrew Whitley said. "Not only is he one the best players in the history of the program, he is a founding member of one of the fasting-growing student groups on campus (BU Real Estate). He understands the balance of athletics and academics and performs at an extraordinary level in all that he does. No one embodies 'how you do anything is how you do everything' more than John!"
