LEXINGTON, Ky. — Senior
Zander Hooten set a new men's 110m hurdle program record as Bellarmine University track and field competed Friday-Saturday in the University of Kentucky's Jim Green Invitational.
For the second straight week, Hooten established a new program record in the 110m hurdles, with his 14.18 in the finals topping his 14.26 from last week's Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Invitational. Hooten placed third in the event.
Bellarmine had two additional athletes qualify for the finals in the 100m hurdles. Freshman
Taevion Sweeney placed seventh (14.67) while junior
Carter Olmsted took eighth (14.90).
Senior
Alex Hooten was the runner-up in the 800m Open (1:51.07) and took seventh in the 1500m (3:49.71). Freshman
Jack Moutardier (ninth, 1:54.84), junior
Chase Austin (13th, 1:55.60) and freshman
Buzz Christensen (17th, 1:57.20) joined Hooten in the upper half of the 800m Open.
Junior
Amelia Svidal placed fourth in the women's triple jump (11.88m) and eighth in the long jump (5.61m).
Also placing in the top half of an event were sophomore
Grant King (16th, 21.50) and senior
Zac Hutslar (21st, 21.68) in the men's 200m, King in the 100m (16th, 10.81), freshman
Caysie Brady in the women's hammer throw Open (13th, 48.31m), freshman
Dylan Forster in the men's shot put (13th, 16.79m) and senior
Alex Cole in the men's discus (47.54m).
Bellarmine will compete May 14-16 in the ASUN Outdoor Championships in Jacksonville, Florida.
